导 读
如果说有一条虫子能一路畅通无阻地从一个国家爬到另一个国家,那么就是它了!三十多年来,这条从艾瑞克·卡尔手里爬出来的红脑壳、绿身子、高高地弓起来走路的毛毛虫,已经“吞噬”了世界上二千多万个孩子的心。这是一本充满了诗情与创意的图画书。作者Eric Carle, 是一位我最崇敬的绘本作者了。他的书无论对大人还是孩子,总能在第一眼就能牢牢地抓住大家的眼球。”The Very Hungry Caterpillar” 是卡尔爷爷最著名的作品,讲述了一只毛毛虫变成蝴蝶的故事。内容和故事情节都非常丰富,作为英文启蒙,即能兼顾语言学习,也能兼顾兴趣和艺术欣赏。
从家长功利层面看,通过这本绘本,孩子能接触到:颜色、水果&食物的表达,数字1-5,星期的表达
但从孩子的视角,这就是一条神奇的超级吃货大青虫!它能从食物里钻来钻去,水果、甜点都通吃。吃饱了最后给自己织了个茧,在里面呼呼大睡,钻出来后竟然变成了一只美丽的蝴蝶!
这本绘本的内容比较丰富,可以采用分层阅读法,每次讲的侧重点不一样。
第一遍讲的目标永远是:让孩子对这本书感兴趣!准备一些实物道具、让孩子看得到、摸得着,并吃得到! 顺便学几种水果的名称,但切记是“顺便”!
如何进行分层阅读?
第一次讲是通过家长绘声绘色的演绎,引导孩子对这本绘本感兴趣,并熟悉几种水果的名称。
第二次讲的时候,可以重复演绎,但重点可以放在数数上。
第三次讲的时候,仍然演绎,可以把重点放在几样常见的甜点英文单词上,并配合实物。
第四次讲的时候,不再演绎和解释,全英文阅读。可以把重点放在星期上。如果四岁以内的孩子对星期这个概念还很陌生,无须纠结。
第五次讲的时候,有提示地复述。根据情况,可以遮住一些孩子已经学会的关键单词,让孩子补充。不要挑孩子不会的,或不确定的,这样会打击孩子自信心。
如此分步、分层次阅读,具体读多少遍要看孩子兴趣,分层顺序也可以颠倒。如果孩子厌倦了,那就不要勉强。可以配合绘本做些游戏和手工。
先来看第一步:
通过Q&A互动的方式先把这本绘本理解一下,没有理解的前提,孩子不可能感兴趣。
读封面很重要,但往往被忽略!尽可能地根据封面制造悬念和情景联结。读懂封面,是帮助理解绘本的第一步。在读之前,可以提前准备一个小指偶或毛毛虫小玩具,提高孩子兴趣。
- 拿到书,可以指着封面问Who is this? Wow! It’s a Caterpillar! 拿出指偶或玩具, 引导孩子摸一摸并跟毛毛虫打个招呼: hello, Caterpillar! 可以引导说出毛毛虫身体的颜色、特征。
进一步的引导,可以问:
- What is this story about? This story is about the Caterpillar.
- What was Caterpillar going to do? I don’t know! But, wait, listen carefully! Gulu, gulu...... The Caterpillar was hungry! Was he going to find some food?
引导说出抬头 ”The Very Hungry Caterpillar”
Was it day time or night time? - Yes, it was night time!
Why? Yes, because we can see the moon!
What else can you see? - leaves...
What’s this little dot on the tree leaves?
读出原文: In the light of the moon, a little egg lay on a leaf.
Now, was it day time or night time? Yes, it was day time! Why? Because the sun came out!

引导孩子回到上一页,发现 Caterpillar 是从egg里钻出来的。用带着毛毛虫指偶的手学毛毛虫爬行的样子,并装成肚子饿的样子。读出原文。
引导孩子孩子思考并制造悬念- What did the hungry caterpillar want to eat?
Wow, what’s this? - It’s an apple! Yeah! Caterpillar found an apple! 可以准备个真的苹果或者过家家用的塑料苹果。引导说” Apple” ”Yummy!”
But... why was there a hole in the apple?
读出原文- On Monday, he ate through one apple, but he was still hungry. 同时,拉着小朋友的小手指从洞洞里钻过去
Where is the hungry caterpillar now? 引导小朋友发现毛毛虫从苹果中间钻过去了- “ate through’ 的概念,可以结合手指钻洞的活动理解。孩子年龄太小的话,不用纠结这个词,不要因为某些难点单词而影响整个故事的完整性。
Listen, 'gulu!' Is the caterpillar still hungry? yes, he is still hungry!
剩下四个水果,可以用类似的方式引导,再加上数数的概念,如
How many pears did caterpillar eat through? Yes, one, two! There were two pears!
水果讲完后,仍然装出很饿的样子- but he was still hungry! The caterpillar was such a big eater! He was really hungry! I guess fruits were not enough for caterpillar!
So, what else could he find for his big stomach?让小朋友猜一猜:
On Saturday....... wow! so many sweats and snack! He ate through one piece of chocolate cake, one icecream cone.....

我们的建议是不要挨个详细讲!图片已经能够说明一切!再次强调 - 不要因为讲单词而破坏故事完整性!每次仅挑出一两个重点词,最好再配上实物、道具,其余的留在下次。
Wow, Caterpillar ate so much snack! Oh, no... that night, he had a stomachache!要极其夸张地表演出肚子疼的样子!小朋友会很诧异!
What happened to the caterpillar? Yes, he ate too much snack, so he got a terrible stomachache!
零食吃多了,撑坏了,肚子疼!

Was Caterpillar ever going to come out? Yes! He nibbled a hole in the cocoon, pushed his way out and....演绎下毛毛虫呼呼大睡,并睡醒后,在Cocoon上咬个洞,破茧成蝶的过程。
引导问题
精彩的结局要做好悬念和引导! 最好准备个蝴蝶的道具藏在身后,配合着情节飞出来,并配合生动的表情和妙曼的舞姿, 引导孩子边飞边说“Wow, he was a beautiful butterfly!”
这个破茧成蝶的过程,如果孩子太小,没必要解释原理。
每次讲完一遍都可以配合侧重点跟小朋友做些拓展手工。这本经典作品可以推荐的手工简直太多了,如手指画做毛毛虫,或用黄瓜切片摆成毛毛虫,还可以用布贴画做毛毛虫,可以用不同颜色的彩色纸盘做毛毛虫,可以用涉及的水果做水果拼盘,具体下次见分享哦!
